Why Now is a Good Time to Start a New Company

Have you been thinking of starting a new venture? Now may be the best time to start. If you hold out for better market conditions, you may be bypassing a great opportunity.

There are definitely areas of overall market risk to keep an eye on – the slowly recovering national economy and a pull-back in later early-stage funding (although much more on the B2C side, barely seen on the B2B side). That’s keeping things interesting. However, the stubborn recession conditions are creating lots of inexpensive office space and multiple technology trends (e.g. cloud computing) have drastically decreased the need for large amounts of outside funding to get new companies off the ground.

  1. Sure I agree. I started companies in 2005 (folded), 2008 (sold), and 2012 (launched). My hope is if I can survive as an entrepreneur through this era, maybe I can thrive in a more robust time.
