About Us

What is Southern Technology Leaders?

SoTech is a community of pay it forward executives who are passionate about growing the South as a leader in Technology.

We are grounded in three key concepts:

The South: We love the South and SoTech was created with the over-arching goal to connect its people, physician and deliver the resources necessary to pull together the local efforts and leaders from the Carolinas to Texas as the leader in technology innovation and growth in the U.S.

Technology: We are all passionate about technology and how it shapes our lives and our future from startups and rockstars in the making to Fortune 500 executives; we all share a common goal of supporting technology growth in the South.

Leadership: We are a region rich in human capital all across the South and we aim to connect our leaders with tomorrow’s next big star to help foster and grow our community.

Who Are Our Members?

How Did SoTech Get Started?

Southern Technology Leaders was founded by Kurt Uhlir in 2009 as a result of some “pay it forward” efforts. It quickly grew from a small social network of close contacts to a private LinkedIn group of executives opening doors for each other and rising stars. A few years later, Kurt, Martin Swinney and a few others started to consolidate their writings and our magazine was born. We added Kristen H. Rachels to our team in 2012 and re-emerged with new energy to connect the islands of Southern cities and local efforts into a larger pay it forward regional effort.
